Mississippi law prohibits not drinking alcohol if you are under the age of 21 but also possessing alcohol if you are under 21.  This obviously can pose a problem for college students across the State as many choose to participate in consuming alcohol.  While MIP is a misdemeanor, if convicted, a minor could face a fine of up to $500.00 and could lose your license for up to 90 days.

Perhaps most importantly, as is often the case, if convicted you will have a that conviction on your record.  Such a mark on your record can impact you education, employment, and a number of other important aspects of your future.
